Fortunately my radiation oncologist has given me various handouts for the different types of radiation I've had which listed side effects I could have during radiation, shortly after radiation, and months to years after radiation is completed. Not all doctors are good about explaining what to expect from different treatments from side effects to what actually happens during a given treatment. I have learned to research everything regarding medications, procedures, etc. because you can't trust all doctors to give you an accurate description of what to expect during and after various treatments. If you educate yourself about your particular cancer(s), drugs, and treatments then you will have a good idea of what to expect and you will also know if you are not receiving adequate or correct medical treatments for your particular situation and will be able to intelligently advocate for yourself. Another thing to keep in mind is doctors are human and all humans make mistakes. If they don't give you information about a procedure then ask them to provide you with information and instructions. Don't ever be afraid to question your doctor or call them out on mistakes they make either. You're the patient and you have a right to know and understand everything that is going on with your medical treatments.

Can you contact the nurse navigator, and see if they can round up any handouts, etc. that might cover this info for you? This is important because some of these side effects do not show up until months or even years later. It would be helpful to have this info so that should something show up- you can share the info as a possible cause to be checked out. Hugs!
