Finished 12/12 of Taxol this week. Grateful for that part. Neuropathy on hands and feet has gotten pretty bad. I’m unsteady on my feet and dropping things. Hoping things get better soon. Met with rad onco on Friday, and he recommends radiation to include lymph nodes under collarbone which makes a small portion on upper right lung susceptible to radiation. Anyone been through this in their treatment? Freaking out a little
They treated my nodes under my collarbone. Talk to your radiation oncologist about your worries. Mine was good at explaining where the field would hit my lungs, and if there would be damage how it would show up. From talking to all of my drs one of them said it best. Treating for cells in the lymph nodes is a game of playing the odds. In my case it was the odds of micro-metastasis in the lymph nodes vs the odds of some slight damage to lung tissue that could surface over the next 10 yrs or so. Good news is you won’t have any immediate lung issues (maybe a dry cough during treatment), but it’s not like the affect it has on skin.
I had 28 radiation treatments. They called it Super Clave, plus radiation under my arm and directly to the chest breast area. I finished radiation Dec 2017. I handled it pretty well. I dont believe i got any lung damage. Hope not anyways.
At least they were honest about the negative part. That part was kept from me, and I am experiencing problems in my rib below the breast treated with radiation. Co-incidense? I dont think so, neither does my gp
@A MyBCTeam Member I had sleep problems and the neuropathy. Also done fatifue but not as bad as during AC. I’ve been taking B6 and last week was prescribed gabapentin/neurontin. I was told that neuropathy if you get it, starts to get worse after the 7th or 8th Taxol infusion. It also gets worse with cold weather
I had that in October and have had a lung X-ray and all clear
