I've had drains 12 times now for breast cancer surgeries. Once the drains are removed it's normal for the drain holes and the areas the drain tubes were located inside your body to feel sore and irritated, although they feel way better than when the drains were still installed. For me the drains always leave scar tissue that ends up hurting and aching even after the drainage tube holes and interior locations of drainage tubes are healed. I always ask the surgeon to cut out any scar tissue that remains from former drains each time I have a breast cancer related chest surgery otherwise the problem compounds if you're like me and have had a bunch of chest surgeries. I don't know if you watched when they pulled out the drains, but those drain tubes are imbedded in your body pretty deep. It's not unusual to have 6 inches of drain line that's inside your body. At least one of the drainage tubes would have been located below the expander implants along the crease line area where your breast meets your abdomen.
This was a very good question. I had surgery but no extenders and felt similar. My follow up is tomorrow. I’m going to ask them more about the same feeling. Pray your discomfort goes away soon🫶🏾💕
