I'm a safety educator and post-surgery I scheduled other instructors or assistants for my classes. I taught very few, I have a great team! But they can't cover everything. Since I'm now facing chemo instead of just radiation I have more classes I will need to cover or reschedule since I won't be able to physically teach or be present for them. I didn’t tell anybody for weeks. Just needed time for everything to settle before I talked about it.
I think it depends on each situation. I was open with folks from day 1. But I knew my colleagues well enough that I trusted them with that info.

I had a difficult time telling anyone about my BC. Although it got easier I still hold back. I am retired so I didn't have to share with co-workers, vendor client etc. But your situation is much different. You need to go with what is best for you. One thing I do know is that some people will pull back and ghost you while others will go full out support. Its just the way people handle it. Good luck with whatever decisions you need to make.
