First, take a deep breath - it's completely normal to feel anxious about starting treatment after a TNBC diagnosis. Treatment typically begins fairly quickly since TNBC can be aggressive. Your oncology team will work to develop your personalized treatment plan based on several factors.

For TNBC, initial treatment usually involves chemotherapy, which helps target cancer cells throughout the body. Your specific treatment timeline will depend on:
• The stage of your cancer
• Whether surgery is recommended
• Your overall health status
• Results of additional testing (like PD-L1 status) Your oncologist may also discuss additional treatment options like:
• Immunotherapy (if your cancer cells have PD-L1)
• PARP inhibitors (if you have BRCA gene changes)
• Clinical trials testing new treatments
• Surgery and radiation therapy (depending on your specific case)

Make sure to write down any questions you have for your next appointment. Your healthcare team wants to help you understand and feel confident about your treatment plan.

Chemo. while not fun- is do-able, and thankfully, for most of us, not as bad as what our imaginations were preparing us for! Reach out anytime about anything- there is a lot of friendship and support here! Hugs!

TNBC 2018. I met my surgeon 9/10, met my oncologist 9/11, 1st chemo 9/27. They wanted me to start sooner, but I needed a few days to absorb this. My first chemo was 7 years and 3 days ago.
TNBC is kind of a jerk! It is aggressive, and grows quickly. My team didn’t want to give it time to spread.
Current standard of care is Taxol Carboplatin Pembrolizumab weekly times 12 followed by Adriamycin Cytoxan Pembrolizumab every 3 weeks times 4. Surgery 4-6 weeks after.
I did not love, chemo, but it was doable, and temporary. You have to believe you will do this, attitude is everything. I worked as an inpatient nurse 3rd shift, 3 days a week, 7 pm to 730 am.
Drink as much water as you can, eat what you can, sleep when you need to, be as active as possible and let your team know if you are struggling.
You got this!
