Thanks! I am aware it would need to be flushed every 3 weeks.
Thanks Rose. You certainly have been through a lot & still continue. It makes sense to keep your port. It’s good you made the decision to keep it. I think I want to wait till my first scan because I don’t know if the treatment worked. You are a warrior. Wishing well on your journey. Marilyn
Thanks Danielle. It’s good you still have your port for bloodwork & iron infusions. Saves your veins! You are a warrior as evidenced by everything you have been through. Wishing you well with your ongoing treatment. You certainly have been through a lot. Sending a hug! 🥰
I finished treatment the end of January that year, but did not have the port out until April. Our school calenar had spring break then, and this way I did not have to take any time off for the port removal, and had a few days to also rest and heal!
Another tip: I had my port scar which was a bit red treated with a type of laser designed to remove red from skin (like what they use to treat brown spots). Anyway, because it was related to BC, it was covered by insurance. Otherwise, might have been a hundred dollars but I don’t know exact cost. Something to consider if the scar appearance bothers you. Went to a plastic surgery clinic associated with my primary in-network clinic. Can’t hardly see where the scar is now.
