Hair loss ( about 20%) and periodic shedding is what I have been having for two years . Use minoxidil , men’s strength , as per oncologist . It helps!
The four biopsies were done by three different dermatologists…each one said they didn’t know what it was. A fourth dermatologist said it was eczema but none of the treatment for eczema worked.
I have also experienced hair loss while on Anastrozole. Even worse, I have a thick crusty material on my scalp that is killing my hair at the root. New growth is happening, so I have hair of different lengths every where. Four biopsies were inconclusive, used many different steroid therapies with no results. Now I’m using a very strong Salicylic acid gel.
So not only do I have bone pain, fatigue and mood swings, I look ridiculous with my hair/scalp problems.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Yes, hair thinning and loss (alopecia) is a known side effect of anastrozole and other aromatase inhibitors. This side effect can be particularly frustrating, especially if you've recently regrown your hair after other breast cancer treatments.
