I've had a single mastectomy already and now, after genetic testing, am looking at a prophylactic mastectomy on the other side. I have not done reconstruction yet but will probably add that to the docket now. I am also in need of a hysterectomy and am trying to decide if I should do everything in one shot. My breast surgeon says they do it quite a bit, and I like/trust him enough to seriously consider this. Funny you just posted this. I am going in for a single mastectomy and ooph/hysterectomy on Wednesday. No recon. Looking forward to six weeks at home doing nothing but recovering. Maybe I will finally get that nap I've been needing for five months!
It depends what days the gynecologist and plastic surgeon has their OR days. I elected to have the robotic assist laparoscopic hysterectomy which was only done on Fridays and my plastic surgeon's OR days in Tue thru Thur. I also had reconstruction same time as my bilateral mastectomy. Mastectomy with immediate reconstruction recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks. Hysterectomy recovery is the same time frame.
