I'm six weeks out from my bilateral mastectomy, and I have no regrets. Recovery has been easier than I expected, though I expected pain; instead, I'm dealing with the weirdness of muscle tightness. All in all, it's been completely tolerable. And the results are interesting: believable boobs, though nothing like my previous ones. Still, I'm alive. And I'm happy.

I'm here if you have any questions. Sending all the hugs your way!

I wish I would have known to take a laxative while on heavy duty pain meds. It is not a fun time to be constipated, and the drugs cause that!

As far as reconstruction goes, I wish I had done more research on implants (size and type)and what would have been best for my age and body type. I am ok with the results, but If I had done my homework, I think I may have had a better results. It is such and emotional time and I just wanted the cancer out and new foobs in, and all of it done with. In hind site, I felt that I could have prepared better and should have had several other PS consultations.

I had a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I was able to keep my nipples and the results are pretty amazing. I "upgraded" from my barely A bra size and am very happy with the results. It did require one revision surgery to improve the symmetry. Very worth it to me.

I requested that I keep my nipples as long as it didn't compromise my health. If I hadn't discussed this with my surgeon, she would have removed them. I have no idea why they wouldn't ask. I am mostly happy with results.
