Hi Jan, not all cancer centers have it, but ask about IORT- IntraOperative Radiation Therapy. It has the nickname of One and Done. When they remove the tumor, the radiologist uses a tool to do radiation therapy right at the place where they removed the tumor. Because it is so precise, that is the only radiation therapy that is administered.
Keep your team up to date with your concerns, I will be keeping you in prayers! Hugs!

It sounds like you're feeling overwhelmed by the treatment plan ahead of you, and that's completely understandable. Facing chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation all at once is a lot to take in — especially when you're already dealing with so much.
It's okay to have doubts and questions about your treatment plan. Many people in similar situations feel the same way. Here are some things worth considering as you think this through:
- Talk openly with your oncologist about your concerns. They can explain exactly why each part of the treatment plan is recommended for your specific situation.
- Ask about alternatives — there may be options to adjust the plan based on your goals and overall health.
- Consider a second opinion — this is always your right and can help you feel more confident in whatever decision you make.
- Quality of life matters — your care team can help you weigh the benefits of treatment against how it may affect your daily life.
At 75, your personal goals and wishes are an important part of any treatment decision. No one should feel pressured into a plan they're not comfortable with.
Whatever you decide, make sure it's a decision made with full information and support from your medical team. You deserve to feel heard and respected in this process. 💙
