Hello DorisOradesky. My ankles had swelling too after my surgery. Lift your feet up above the level of your heart using pillows when sitting or lying down. Flex your ankles and move your toes regularly to boost your circulation. Watch your salt intake. Hope this helps.

Swollen ankles can happen after breast cancer surgery, and keeping your feet elevated (like you're already doing β€” smart move!) is a great first step. Resting in a recliner tonight sounds like a solid plan.

That said, swelling in the legs can sometimes be a sign of something that needs attention, especially after surgery. Here are some things to watch for:

- Painful or swollen legs
- Fever or flu-like symptoms
- Swelling that gets worse rather than better Swelling can also sometimes be related to a buildup of lymphatic fluid, known as lymphedema, which can occur after breast cancer surgery.

It's always best to let your doctor know about any new swelling, especially if it's only on one side. A quick call to your care team tomorrow would be a good idea just to be safe. They can help figure out whether it's something to monitor or treat.

Google if an AI or blood pressure med can cause leg or ankle swelling.
