I was diagnosed with DCIS, and had two lymph nodes removed..thank GOD, both were benign. While there is no pain, the soreness is bearable. I am also experiencing swelling in both ankles, but not in my arm. I am keeping my legs elevated and don’t have any blood clot indicators..🙏🏽. I have my second appointment with the plastic surgeon in two days. Funny how they never mentioned the expanders may cause pain…or is that a no brainer?😳. @A MyBCTeam Member .......... I'm sorry to hear about the blood clots, but glad to know they found them and you're getting medical attention for them. I got a blood clot in my neck from my chemo port and another one in my lung which showed up within a couple of weeks of finishing chemo the first time. They sent me home with a prescription for Eliquis which I've been taking since 2022. Good luck, I hope you're feeling better soon ❤️
I tend to overheat easier when I am in pain. Mastectomies and reconstructive surgeries both hurt. Expanders are stiff and uncomfortable. Once you get your regular implant installed it will feel much more comfortable in your chest.
Regarding the swelling feet, I have that problem too whenever I have surgery. Putting your feet up is great. You also need to get up every so often and walk around some to get your blood circulation moving.
I've also had issues with swelling feet ever since I had chemo the first time. They would be swollen most of the time during chemo. Ever since chemo if I'm on my feet or driving for too long my feet and ankles swell up. Sometimes it will take a couple of days for them to return to normal once they've become swollen. Nowadays at home I always sit on my couch with my feet up on a footrest and unless I overdo it during the day, my ankles stay nice and shapely instead of turning into cankles.
