Members offered a range of helpful tips for managing breast surgery scars, including silicone scar sheets, scar gels, and cold-pressed castor oil applied directly to the skin. Several members shared that gentle circular massage, recommended by plastic surgeons and occupational therapists, helped break up internal scar tissue, while others found relief by switching from bras to soft padded tank tops. A recurring theme was the value of working closely with medical professionals like plastic surgeons and lymphedema therapists to find the right combination of treatments for each person's unique situation.

@A MyBCTeam Member, Sue, my OT suggested light pressure massage for the internal scars. Working out the tissue. The scar sheets are more for external scars. I hope this helps! 🥰

There are over the counter scar gels that you can apply daily, they may help. My plastic surgeon did a scar row of steroid injections, which did help a bit. I did not, however, go back for subsequent appointments for those because those injections were extremely painful! I’ll stick now to my scar gels. So there Are options out there for you to consider. Blessings and the Lord’s peace and grace to you. 💕

@A MyBCTeam Member Castor oil is different than cod liver oil.

Castor oil is pressed from the seeds of the castor bean plant (Ricinus communis).
Cod liver oil is extracted from the livers of cod fish.
