12 years post bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. Found a new lump. They are saying grade 2. They haven’t staged it yet.
@A MyBCTeam Member.....When I was diagnosed with an endometrial cancer recurrence in 2021, about 2 years after initial endometrial cancer diagnosis and 4.5 years after 1st breast cancer diagnosis in 2017, I insisted on getting PET scans. I have been having PET scans every 3 months since then. That's how my 3rd and 4th bouts of endometrial cancer were found along with the 2nd breast cancer. I have yet to go over 6 months with something concerning showing up on a PET scan that needs to be monitored or biopsied. I was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and 2019 and 2021 and 2023, and twice in 2024 (had to type that in a weird way cuz website thought all the years were a phone number). A few weeks ago my radiation oncologist asked if I was OK going to every 6 months with the PET scans and I reminded her that my last 3 quarterly PET scans all showed something odd that needed further monitoring. I said I'm not comfortable going without PET scans until I make it a year without anything odd showing up, and at that point I would only be comfortable with reducing scans to every 4 months for a year before considering reducing it to every 6 months. I told her I'd rather have the extra radiation exposure than the stress of waiting 6 months between scans and reminded her that my May 2024 scan that was right after radiation for 4th bout of endometrial cancer was clear, but then 3 months later my August 2024 scan showed the stage 3C aggressive breast cancer. After that she agreed with me and my thought process regarding quarterly PET scans. For me my best luck has been with PET scans finding new cancer spots and radiation killing the various cancers. I'm on Letrozole AI now along with Ibrance CDK inhibitor so hopefully the drug combo keeps the cancers from growing again.
@A MyBCTeam Member when the breast cancer came back 7.5 years later, did you have any kind of screening/ monitoring?
Wow! 12 years later? Did you have chemo, radiation and AI the first time?

@A MyBCTeam Member gosh now i remember you telling me that before. I remember saying, I will ask my doctor for a PET scan at least once a year. I will have to get on top of this and ask. Thanks again 💕
