What are you doing to counter this and feel better?
Hello @A MyBCTeam Member,
I hear you.....This is frustrating. Lack of chart prep and NO prep by the MD. No excuses. Feels like a totally wasted visit- time, money, mental space. So sorry for your experience.
We almost need to go by word of mouth, by who has found someone who knows how to treat what we have. Sometimes that is so difficult to find. It could be our PCP or Medical Oncologist that gives us a "lead" on who to go see. Or our "Pink Sisters" here.
Another thought is taping into your insurance and calling customer service or whatever they are calling it and asking them specific questions about providers. And/or asking about a Nurse Navigator to get assistance to find the right Neurologist who has an understanding. Does that make sense?
Just my thoughts today.
Do people with neuropathy experience depression?
Yes, dealing with chronic conditions like breast cancer and its side effects, including neuropathy, can definitely lead to feelings of depression. People with chronic conditions are more likely to develop symptoms of depression than those who aren't chronically ill. The Show Full Answer
Not easy to deal with illness and the medical people ....made an appt with a neurologist told them ahead of time about my disease...when I finally see the dr he tells me he is not familiar with my disease....REALLY????
Chronic pain is something that will increase the risk of or exacerbate already existing depression. Finding a therapist who understands the impact of chronic pain can go a long way in aiding how a person handles the issue. A good therapist will work collaboratively with the medical treatment team as well.
I have experience some of the symptoms above and it makes it difficult for me on day to day I'm used to being active and up and moving around and even though I've completed chemotherapy and radiation I deal with the effects as well of doing immunotherapy and the neuropathy in my arm or I would save my shoulders to the tip of my fingers is chronic and the neuropathy in my lower extremities which is my kneecap to the bottom of my feet it is caused my mobility to be off and this year I have fallen four times and each one a little bit more extreme than the other and I'm grateful I haven't had any fractures or broken bones but still the fall is can be very difficult for me when I was diagnosed 2 years ago immediately had her effect on my marriage so the first of the year I will be attending counseling sessions they have to deal with it all my faith has got me this for as well as my three grandchildren my grandson turns 11:00 tomorrow my middle one she will be nine or she is nine and then my youngest granddaughter she is four so they keep me pretty much intact and they are my therapy as well and I'm so appreciative of the information that was given above and I'm just now because it's been a few months since I've been on here I'm trying to catch up with all the post that everyone has made
