I am not doing radiation. In good health prior to diagnosis- still feel great. I have HER2+/er+ stage 2a with some lymph involvement. NED after chemo and surgery. Going to be doing immunotherapy next and hormone blockers. Not interested in frying myself since I already pickled myself with drugs.

I didn't do radiation and I was stage 3 grade 3 with 4 lymph nodes involved. It will be a year in January and all is good. It is a personal choice. Research, research, research everything. Prayers :)

I Wouldn’t do it. Your stage is very early and the risks are not worth it. Plus there are studies that show it doesn’t make any difference in disease free survival whether you do it or not. Actually women who did it had a slightly lower survival (not significantly though). So my take, especially at this age, enjoy life and keep your quality of life.

Radiation not always needed but really not that bad so don’t let fear drive your decision. For me, it was no big deal compared to chemo. I was able to do it for 5-1/2 weeks while working full time and very few side effects. A little redness and skin peeling which was gone in a week after I finished. I was 58 at the time. 11 year survivor. I did it all and no regrets.

Hi Cyndy. I just had my appointment with the radiation oncologist yesterday and she confirmed the research that I had done and gave me a couple of studies to read over. If your cancer is hormone positive and you will be taking tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor like Letrozole , no lymph node involvement , stage 1 and small under 2 cm (might be under 3) then your chance of reoccurrence in the breast with the cancer (which is what radiation is targeted at) is 5% without radiation and about 1.6% with radiation. The other good thing is that with good follow up if it does reoccur with or without radiation it will be caught early and treatable as it was now. check all this out with your oncologist. In the end you have to choose what risks you are willing to take. I choose not to go through with radiation given all the short term and l long term side effect and possible ones. I too am healthy and I have been doing Naturopathic support through all of this which I believe will lower my risks.
