In fact, is anyone using massage on their own for neuropathy or any other methods that help?
After my first surgery, I got massage therapy once I was diagnosed with cording in the armpit. According to my surgeon, I should have been in PT more quickly and we think the insurance blocked her automatic orders. Anyway, that was super helpful to breaking up the cording and since, I do exercise here at home. In addition I began monthly massage a year ago as part of my health protocol: stress management, aiding my monthly chiropractic adjustments for my bad back, and my Massage therapist will focus on lymphatic drainage if I need it.
Hey Sue, I considered it but never signed up. Gabapentin has really been messing with my emotions and reactions, so I'm trying to get off of it. I still have the neuropathy. Which royally sucks! But, it seems to be getting somewhat better. I hope to be off of it by the end of the year. I'm open to suggestions.
@ Sue10 after reading your comment, I talked to my husband. We ended up ordering some magnesium lotion and he promises to massage my feet every night. I'll let you know how it goes.
@A MyBCTeam Member I agree, that's a high dose and if it doesn't work she should try to get off of it. Gabapentin just calms the overactive nerves down, it doesn't cure neuropathy. It's supposed to help with managing the symptoms. Studies show that more than half of the people treated with it do not get any pain relief at all. Neuropathy is nerve damage.
No don’t have that curse
