Sometimes a seroma
has to be drained several times before it gets smaller and goes away. Also, some need to be removed surgically. Talk to your Dr to develop a treatment plan for this, as it sounds like it interferes with your normal activities.

I had huge a hematoma after my 1st surgery last year which they removed during a 2nd surgery. After my 3rd surgery I developed a seroma which was drained. It came back again, but they say it's small enough that we don't need to drain it and they are keeping an eye on it. From what I understand seromas are fairly common and it's also common for them to return after being drained. If you haven't already called the doctor I would do so asap so they can drain it again. I would also make sure they check the fluid they drain for infection. I ended up with hospital related infections after they removed the hematoma and was given 2 different antibiotics. I had both bacterial and fungal infections that I picked up in the operating room. After they drained the seroma they tested the drained liquid for infection and it was all clear this time. Hi, I have a small seroma in a different area then where they thought one would be, the tech who did the sonogram did not see it and when the doctor came in to talk with me, I showed her where the fluid was and it was in my underarm area and so the doctor redid the sonogram and sent the report to plastic to my doctor and the nurse who order the sonogram about the small seroma and I will see the nurse on October 27, 2025. Sometimes you have to show them exactly where the issue is when it comes to a seroma because it may be in a different area then where they thought it could be.
