This is a challenging situation that many breast cancer survivors face. While studies show that both anastrozole and similar medications are generally well-tolerated, some people do experience significant side effects that impact their quality of life. Common side effects include:

• Joint pain
• Weight gain
• Fatigue
• Hot flashes
• Night sweats
• Bone density issues One MyBCTeam member shared their struggle with weight management while on anastrozole, noting they felt "fatigued and lifeless" despite following a strict diet and exercise routine. However, before making any decisions about stopping treatment, it's crucial to have an open discussion with your oncologist about:

• Your specific concerns and side effects
• Potential alternative treatments
• Ways to better manage side effects
• The benefits vs risks of continuing treatment

Your doctor can work with you to find the best approach for your individual situation, whether that means trying different medications or finding better ways to manage side effects.

Sometimes it's the worst but, I found when the joint pain is bad if I take a little 5 min walk it subsides the pains in my legs.

I was on it for 5 years. Yes the bone and joint pains were crazy...but knowing my cancer was hormone + I took it. I did go to pain management & also. Provided with muscle relaxer by primary.

I can relate..my joints are hurting my neck muscles and shoulders hurt..but like others have said i get up and move. It really does help if you can exercise.I have RA so that doesn't help much either. Going in Nov. to have my first mammogram since all this started keeping my fingers crossed everything will be ok!

I stopped all the drugs, I just had my mammogram and was clear. My quality of life outweighed putting up with the side effects
