It's important to be prepared for your appointment by bringing a list of questions. Consider bringing a friend or family member who can take notes or record the conversation (with permission) so you can focus on the discussion. Remember, there are no "stupid questions" when it comes to your health.

Here are key questions to consider asking your oncologist:

• What's my current prognosis and risk of recurrence?
• What symptoms or changes should I watch for and report?
• What follow-up tests will I need and how often?
• Are there any clinical trials I should consider?
• What lifestyle changes would you recommend?
• What support services are available to me?
• What's the best way to reach you if I have concerns between appointments? A helpful approach is to ask your doctor "What would you recommend if I were your family member?" Many oncologists appreciate this question and provide honest, personalized responses. Don't hesitate to ask for clarification if anything is unclear, and remember that your conversations with your healthcare team are ongoing - you can always follow up with additional questions as they arise.
