I am HER2 positive and have chemo every 3 weeks. I asked my Dr about moving them closer together, but she said that, with the drugs I am given, I need 3 weeks to recover. I don't feel physically like I need 3 weeks, but when I look at my lab results every 3 weeks, I can see my RBC and WBC counts go down, and I can understand why I need 3 weeks to recover. So, I would say that it depends on the chemo drugs you are given and how they are likely to affect your red and white blood cell counts, plus how you physically feel after each chemo.

It seems everyone has a specific protocol as directed by the oncologist, most likely with consult with the surgeon too [re: path report].

Many factors determine the type of meds in the "chemo soup" and the frequency of infusion. So one cannot generalize, nor really compare to others.

My best response is to ask your oncologist the "why's" of it all: frequency and choice of medicines. You are a unique person - one of a kind "you" - your own genetics play a role as well, for example.

That is interesting- I too am HER2+, stage 2, ER+ and have TCHP cycles every 3 weeks. I was never given a weekly option. Maybe tumor size plays into it? My tumor is very small (hopefully gone by the time I finish my chemo in late August! Friend was triple negative and she got weekly chemo

That sounds like a reasonable goal. I think I would do the same thing. Every week for 10 weeks sounds plenty in my book.

I always thought chemo was every 3 weeks and never heard of the weekly treatment. I think the weekly sounds more doable, with not as a strong dose as the one they give every 3 weeks . You can always try the weekly and see how you do, the AI said 3 in a row and then a break period....so how many treatments in all ?
