Hi, Adele. Just checking in and saw your ?. It does seem like a long time. Will you have other treatments besides the chemo?Since I opted out of a mastectomy first, my onc and surgeon put me on one of the most aggressive chemo treatments there is ie AC/T. I have 1 every 2 weeks for 8 weeks, then once a week for 12 weeks. Then there is a break after which I will have multiple lumpectomies. This, followed by 9 weeks of radiation. So basically a year out of my life that I know of so far 🙃. I did lose a week bc I canceled my 2nd infusion due to complications. Generally there is a certain treatment protocol drs follow based on your diagnosis and they do not like to alter course or change the dosage. You might want to ask your onc about that. Also, there are certain markers they can check for during your treatment such as blood work and/or scans that will help determine effectiveness as you go through your treatment. Hope this helped.

Yes, please keep me posted! Keep your eye on the chemo finish dates, going to the Herceptin only is soo much easier as both the process, and side effects! Hugs!

I did chemo, every 3 weeks for 6 sessions, but because the chemo (Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin) was knocking out my red blood cells/platelets, I had two sessions postponed by a week each- making that phase of my chemo run a total of 20 weeks, then the continued Herceptin every three weeks after that. Total infusion time was a bit over a year because of the two delays. I finished in Jan 2020, and so far, all looks good.

This is the protocol I am on - taxol every week and herceptin every 3 weeks for 12 weeks . DX ER+ pR+ Her2+, stage IIA, T2N0M0. First 2 infusions of Taxol were tough I had a bad reaction. Now my taxol infusions are given on a slow drip to start and they gradually increase drip after 15 minutes. I have been able to tolerate it. This will be my last cycle of 3 weeks. It’ll be herceptin every 3 weeks for another 9 months with radiation for a week somewhere in there. We will get through this. Let’s be strong together 🙏🏻
