Magic Mouthwash has different ingredients depending on who prescribes it, but it's not water/bakingsoda/salt.
Water/bs/salt was recommended to me to use during chemo to help with dry mouth, taste changes, and mouth sores. I use it before and after eating.
Magic Mouthwash, for me, was liquid Benadryl, Mylanta, Nystatin (px), and viscous lidocaine (px).

Here's the recipe for the homemade rinse. I made a bottle up and every time I used the bathroom, I also did the salt water rinse. Started that proactively and never developed any mouth sores.
Salt and Baking Soda Rinse:
Mix 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 4 cups of water. Rinse your mouth with this solution every 4-6 hours, or more often as needed. Gargle for 15-30 seconds and then spit it out,

The hospital pharmacy made mine up for me. It needs lidocaine that you need a prescription for. The next two ingredients are over the counter. It's maalox and benadryl. There are different ways to make it and the pharmacist is the best one to decide what you need for your symptoms. I had terrible mouth sores and my tongue was bleeding. This mixture helped so much for me. I hope it gives you relief also. You should watch out for thrush also that needs nystatin. That is a prescription also. Just a warning that one tastes awful but it works. good luck to you.
