Currently the standard dose for Tamoxifen is 20 mg. But why should a 100 lb woman require the same dose as a 250 lb woman? Not only because of the size difference, but fat cells produce more estrogen. Or what about a 70 yr old woman whose estrogen production is at its lowest compared to a 30 yr old woman whose ovaries are at their highest? I was told that the weigh-in at chemo was part of making sure I got the right dosage, and was one of the reasons we continued with the Herceptin infusion vs the shot, as the shot had a set dosage (at least it was 5 years ago) Herceptin is still dosed in infusion form by weight.

I dont know that any cancer drug is dosed that way. Only children are dosed by weight.
