Due to hand joint pain, I am stopping letrozole for 2 wks. I've been taking it for 15 months. Symptoms started at about 9 months with carpal tunnel. Had surgery and now the the other hand has tendonitis and trigger finger. I'm afraid to start a new AI. Have you continued with the original and have symptoms subside after time? I had to stop Anastrozle for a month due to bone pain. Restarted every other day for 2 weeks no pain then my Medical Oncologist put me back on it daily but said to take at night. She also said generally after being on it for 2 years the pain will get better. The bone pain is back but so far not severe so I'm trying to stay on it.

My onco approved it with Claritin! Hopefully this helps. Another manufacturer to try is Teva.

I finally called the pharmacist. Mine is also manufactured by Breckenridge. They can order in Accord and it is actually less expensive! WIN! I'm going to check with my oncologist before I do anything. A couple other options that were presented were:
Take it every other day; Take with Claritin; Stick with it longer (side affects may dissipate).
From what I've researched, letrozole may have the best outcome in suppressing estrogen levels. I would like to try my other options before I give up and switch AIs and have to start over with "what side affects I am going to have with this one?!!"
I've been off letrozole for 6 days and although I still have some joint pain, it is significantly less.
Another manufacture to check out may be Teva
I'm going to call my pharmacist tomorrow and find out what the brand is. I do have a Walgreens right down the street that I could switch to if needed.
