What options are there if breast sizes are not the same after radiation therapy? It is early days but noticing that the irradiated breast is someway smaller than the non-treated breast.
@A MyBCTeam Member I am 68 so you have the same thoughts as I do. I am not up for an In more surgeries. If I need to it will be a prosthetic or a specialized bra.
I found that a few months after radiation I no longer needed to wear the prosthesis that I needed after my second lumpectomy. I had developed some lymphedema in the breast, but minimal to none in the arm. The lymphedema treatments keep it now from being larger than the other side!
I finished radiation end of December 2023. I have noticed the irradiated breast getting smaller. So far have not needed to pad my bra on that side but will have to if it gets any smaller. I’m 72 so not even thinking of any surgical fix. I’ll get a silicone or foam prosthesis to wear when I get dressed up. Otherwise sports bras work fine for me
