TLC is an excellent resource. Iit is an extension of the American Cancer Society. I had a friend who used them and then suggested them to me. They aren't cheap but they have a wide price and style availability and have done this for a long time.

Check at your cancer center, ours will accept the donated wigs, clean them, and offer them for free to those without insurance. Donated mine, and heard it was picked up quickly!

I'm in British Columbia, Canada and we do have a program through Cancer Canada which offers free wigs. I have signed up but think options are a bit limited, so thought I'd maybe look for something else too. The wig shops locally seem to be super pricey so thought maybe online would be cheaper. But I certainly don't want cheap quality.

Contact your insurance provider, they may be able to tell you of any shops in your area that will file insurance for you. Our cancer center has a separate site that does hair cuts, wig fittings, measurements for bras, prosthetics, etc. I was able to get the names of the brands of wigs they carried, they look them up online and decide on the styles I was interested in. When I went in, they had all four on hand (not in my color- but I could try them on, and see what I liked or didn't like about them). I ordered one, it was in a few days later, and they shortened the bangs a bit for me and thinned it a little. My wig, shampoo, stand, brush- all came to less that $200, and they gave me all the paperwork needed to file with the insurance company.
