Certain drugs have a higher risk of neuropathy, such as Taxol. Icing fingers/hands and toes/feet while the chemo is being infused may help prevent or lessen neuropathy. The theory is icing causes vasoconstriction, which lowers the blood flow to that area, which has less chemo in that area. Kind of like cold capping. I iced my hands during Taxol. I had mild neuropathy, which completely resolved. I didn’t do my feet. I have mild residual in my toes.

Good morning, when you say during chemo, is it while at chemo appointment, or even when your at home?

Several of the pink sisters here have used special mittens and socks that keep the hands and feet cold during chemo with some success in preventing, or at least minimizing the neuropathy. I am sure they will jump in with details!
