I had proximal muscle weakness and pain and felt very unsteady during my chemotherapy. Specifically my quadriceps felt very very weak (specifically my ability to lift my legs to the next step while climbing stairs or putting my legs into clothes like pant legs while getting dressed was a tremendous challenge ) and my deltoid and biceps were very weak (ability to abduct or raise the arms and shoulders). I wondered if Herceptin contributed. I had burning in my legs like I had run miles after one… read more
My chemo experience made me horribly ill and then I continued infusions of Herceptin for about a year, PR/ER -, HER2 +. I finished Herceptin this March and have severe pain in my hips, right shoulder(torn rotator cuff) and also have trouble with putting on pants! Using stairs kills me but I do them anyway so that I can keep moving! It probably won't go away....hang in there and power through it !!!
I, too, was extremely weak during and especially after my last chemo treatment and was in a panic that I would not get my stamina back, but I did. I then continued my herceptin and did not have the same issues at all. So, I always attributed it to the other chemo drugs. I hope you find some relief and feel better soon. Hugs!
I had a hard time opening doors while in chemo and stairs took me forever to get up and down. When I was done with chemo and just getting Herceptin/Perjeta I did much better so I always blamed my muscle weekness of chemo but that’s not to say Herceptin is not contributing to your problems. Everyone reacts differently to medications. Us HER2 people need Herceptin though so I hope your pain subsides quickly.
