I agree. I had a bilateral to avoid having it show up again in the second one (and biopsy afterwards proved it was the right choice). I am a fairly large woman and had very large breasts and no one said a thing about back and balance problems, if anything it just took a lot of weight off my shoulders/back. Get a second opinion, please.

I am so dumbfounded by this "cancer board".... I think that is why I had to leave the big cancer centers... I can't imagine people voting and making decisions for my surgeries, body and life. Aside from that... I have never been off balance since the mastectomy. If anything .. with the implants and breast implant illness.. i was so sick and dizzy.. and I would lose my balance all the time.... so I have had improvement there since the explant and being flat. If it didn't change your treatment ...then I think you made the right choice wags to not take the lymph nodes.... I had no idea the amount of damage to the nerves and complications with the lymphadema... there would be ...that has been the hardest part for me.. and the biggest reminder that I had surgery... the loss of sensation in my arm and the fullness on the ribs and underarm.

I belong to a FB group called Flat & Fabulous. There are some women there who have had single mastectomies and don't wear any silicone forms. They have never complained about being off balance. The tumor board at my cancer center wanted me to have a full axillary dissection when my pathology report came back with 3 new tumors that my mammogram missed. So they wanted me back in surgery after my BMX. For another surgery. Luckily my surgeon disagreed with them and I did not have the surgery. She said removing all of my nodes would not change my treatment at all. She said all it would do would be to have more accurate staging but Imwould be at a hogh risk for Lymphedemia for the rest of my life. So I did not have the surgery

balance???? never heard that "excuse" from (Email address can only be seen by the question and answer creators) I had 34 DD+ and if anything, that was off balance for my 5'2 frame... since removing both... I find my posture is better no neck and shoulder pain... maybe try that angle? maybe even find a different doctor? I know canada's health care is so different from the states... I can say... its been a year from my bilateral @ mastectomy and I haven't fallen or stumbled once ;).... hahahaha I do know if they remove your toes... now that is a huge balance problem
