Here is the deal, I was diagnosed as HER2 positive (by FISH) has 6 rounds of chemo and then two weeks ago I had a bilateral mastectomy. The pathology came back showing that I was now HER2 negative. This was also confirmed by FISH. my oncologist says that this ocassionally happens but is not common. We are now trying to figure out how to proceed with treatment.

I’ve had Herceptin, Perjeta, Taxetere and Carboplantin prior to surgery. The plan was to continue Herceptin for a total of one year. I will also be doing radiation. Now that I am triple negative everything is up in the air. There is one trial they are looking at. It is sounding like there are very few options for me.
I was told that her2 positive could turn negative and vice versa. I had two tumors right beside each other - one was Her2 positive and one was Her2 negative. I would think they will probably give you adjuvant Herceptin since you were postive prior to chemo but i dont know. Sending you healing, love and light 💗💫
