Had 5/6 Zometa treatments after chemo and herceotjn finished in aug 2015

I was stage 1a triple positive IDC no lumph nodes.
She also said I can have my port removed. Does anyone agree this is a good time? My husband played the Devils advocate when I came home and was so… read more
I was also triple positive. Made it through 12 of the 18 Herceptin treatments, but the EF rate of my heart dropped to 44 again (second time), so I have to stop it now, I believe. I meet with the doctor tomorrow to see for sure, but I don't think they will do any more. So I'm hoping I get the port out. I can't wait to get it out!!! A friend of mine had her last herceptin, her follow-up mammogram and port removed all in a half a day!
I had my port removed shortly after finishing chemo. I was stage 2b. My surgeon and oncologist both recommended its removal. If I need one again, hopefully never ever will, I'll get a new one. get it out, you'll feel better!
The port has to be flushed every 4 weeks. So if it is not being used, it is best to remove. Can’t be accessed if not in use because of potential complications of fibrin build up in the port.
@A MyBCTeam Member was the port removal in the office? Or hospital?
