I would like to know if anyone had issues with resuming their menstrual cycle post chemo? After 1 1/2 year without one, I have started 5 days ago and very heavy and painful. I am 50 years old and have never had them so heavy (flooding). Ugh...

I haven't had a period since last April and my doctor said I was thrown into early menopause because of the Chemo. I have pains that feel like menstrual cramps but they never last and there's no bleeding or any discharge. My doctor IS going to keep an eye on me though since uterine/ovarian cancer runs in my family, but I've been good so far (knock on wood) and I just turned 50 on January 9th.

I had last chemo on Halloween and had light spotting for a couple of days. Then nothing happened till 2 weeks ago, typical pain but for me xtremely heavy as I bled through pad and a tampon in about an hour. According to my gynecologist , medically it wasn't that heavy although for me personally it was outrageous. Had a biopsy, very painful, and a ultrasound. Everything is fine, but need to do regular checkups for the uterus lining because I just started tamoxifen a few days after my period. The chemotherapy can certainly throw it all off.
I don't know what will happen when it's time for my next period. For some the chemo will stop it all together.
You should talk to your gynecologist. I'm hoping for a less bloody mess for both of us in the future.

Stopped having them on my 2nd chemo treatment that was 8 months ago! I'm 48 so I pray they do not return!

Thank you. Chemo did stop mine for over a year. My Oncologist said I may also be going through menopause. But now, I guess it's starting up again. I see.my gynecologist next month.
