Has anyone started having a period or bleeding 2.5 years after chemo? I just started having period like bleeding for the past 2 days. I have an appt with my ob/gyn in 2 weeks. Trying not to freak out as I know there are many reasons this can occur - some bad and others not so bad. Just curious if others have experienced this.

Are you on an estrogen inhibitor? Delayed vaginal bleeding can occur. See your on/gyn❤️

No but I will ask about that. It is so nice to have this group of supportive ladies all helping each other through this journey. I really appreciate it.

Are you saying you didn't have a regular period, then it showed up again 2.5 years later? When I was going through chemo and for several months following, my periods stopped. But, since I was 37 at the time, it came back. My Oncologist said it could come back, or I could go into early menopause from the chemo. It came back in full force! It continued until I was diagnosed with Stage IV in 2012 (which was 7 years later) Then I started Zolodex injections to stop my periods. I was on those for 6 years, then about 9 months ago discontinued them since my body has accepted menopause. I am now 52. I would definitely talk to both your Oncologist and your Gyno about this to see what you need to do about it. They need to know what symptoms you are having. The reason I started the Zolodex is because my Oncologist wanted me to be in menopause or post menopause since there are more options for treatment for Stage IV. I was still pre-menopause, so we changed that. I hope that helps. Paula

I had an endometrial biopsy and it came back clear. I guess tamoxifen can cause bleeding and sometimes it just happens. However, it is definitely not something to take lightly as it can be a symptom of something serious so worth getting checked out.

Do you take anything to suppress your ovaries? I currently get an injection of Lupron once a month to prevent my ovaries from "waking up" after chemo.
