Has anyone used this cap that was on ac 4 rounds and taxol 12 rounds. I just got my caps in and I start my chemo on Monday.
I am starting ac tomorrow and I will be trying the cold caps. I will keep you posted.
Yes, I had your same treatment regimen and capped through all of it. I maintained about 50-60% of my hair. I also went to the gym (which involved sweating), wore ponytails because I had a lot of hair through the AC. I went diving and a lot of hair got caught in velcro (big knot because the hair gets very fine). In a long winded way of giving you gentle advice for success and you can have success is to baby the hair, even if you work out. Watch windblown convertibles, boats, etc. My other advice that I can give is to make sure that you have the top of the cap as close to your scalp as for this is a tough area to keep the cap close to your scalp. My friend who capped me, started tying it down between cap changes and it really helped. Rinse your hair when washing it with cold water to keep the scalp from heating up and no high pressure showers or gushing water stream (low pressure stream of cold water). I washed my hair in the bathtub while I bathed and kept my body warm. I wore a partial hair piece for 6 months after and supplemented with 2 boxes of tape in hair extensions literally 6 months to the date post chemo. I wore these for 10 months. If I was more careful with ponytails and not getting the knot in my hair with the velcro from my wetsuit I would have had better results. Please follow all post chemo capping regimens (I believe that it was 4 hrs after the AC to continue to cap). The back of the head maintains the most hair. I do not have any extensions in currently and my hair in the back is to my mid scapula and it has a few layers in the front that are shorter but blend in well with styling. Hair color was added back in about 8 weeks post chemo and my first Keratin treatment was about 4.5 months post chemo. I also took biotin. I had some thinning of lashes and brows but used keratin. Sorry to be so wordy but losing my hair would have been devastating for me. I was not thrilled for about 6 months post chemo but I was very active during my treatments (running, 1/2 marathon and working out so lots of sweating). Compliance with capping is key and I wish you all of the best. The first cap that goes on is the toughest but you can do it. Also, bring an electric blanket to keep you warm. Take Care and the very best of luck!!
I just finished my fourth round of AC and I have lost hardly any hair. I used chemo cold caps.
Hi Judy, I ended up keeping less than half my hair, but it was better than being bald. My hair just became very thin, so I would use some hair powder to hide my scalp.
Hi, yes my first day wasn't bad at all. Just the first minute it was uncomfortable. Next treatment is on
