If I take several Advils, it helps. But I suffer from fibromyalgia and can't live on Advils so I use heating pads, etc and take Advils when I really can't tolerate the pain anymore.
After months of research, my husband and I found costochondritis and asked the radiation oncologist who said, yes, it's costochondritis. Caused by radiation... No cure. It's pretty painful. All scans I've had are negative for metastases. So I live with it. Hope you're OK... xxoo
Hi, I still have that kind of pain even 2 years post surgery. My surgeon says it's normal. Nerves firing off and on and some lymphatic backup into the trunk. The pain sometimes takes my breath away as it feels like I got kicked in the ribs. I do a lot of stretching, massage to get things moving. It helps decrease any pressure on the side.
@A MyBCTeam Member I noticed mine years ago when I was in a Pilates class doing those roll ups. I also notice if I twist or turn the wrong way I get a terrible cramp like a Charlie horse in my chest. I think Costcochroditis is a Type of arthritis so you treat it with NSAIDS.
@A MyBCTeam Member I had that pain under my Breast bone years before BC, especially when I sit up or stretch a certain way. My doctors always said it was nothing. I had a bone scan and CT scan this summer to rule out metastasizes. It showed lots of degenerative damage in my sternum. I wonder if it is costochondroitis?
