Personally, do not want the nipple recon, just the 3D. And now that I am almost ready for exchange surg, I really dont even care that I am "nipple-less" . I never want to wear a bra again, just light fitted spaghetti strap tanks so that is another reason I am Chosing against it. Its a personal decision so go with your feeling of what makes you comfortable :)

I wish I had done the 3D tattoo. I don't like that the "lights are always on" and the cosmetic tattooing is already fading.

Ive had both. I had the tattooing updated after about 8 years just because it had faded. Im extremely happy with my results. Not sure if I am just lucky to have had one of the best reconstruction Drs. His name is Dr. Bruce VanNatta in Indianapolis. My breast looks exactly like the other one except for the light football shaped scar line of the mastectomy. Very light.

Both are easy especially compared to everything else we go through. The nipple will look huge at first and then flattens out significantly. Just make sure you're happy with the rest of the reconstruction before you have the nipple reconstruction.

My friend had hers 3D tattooed by an local artist. He was doing it free for BC survivors. She loves hers.
