@A MyBCTeam Member I'm feeling great now. We'll maybe not great- AIs leave me fatigued:). However I'm much better and so glad I'm done with surgery. Now I just need my tattoo. Good luck with your surgery. Let us know what you decide.

I don't remember much about the recovery from my mastectomy because I had a horrible back spasm which wouldn't leave for nothing. It took the focus off of the mastectomy. I had several other surgeries for symmetry where I was off for only a long weekend each time.

You can always try the immediate implant and if radiation gives you results you're not happy with, you can opt for a flap surgery later. I wish I new this was a possibility up front. I could have eliminted at least 2 of my sutgeries.

Thanks debsweb18! The original plan was for radiation but will be confirmed after pathology. My P.S. did explain what could happen to the implant after radiation and that it's a chance I will have to take. Many girls I know had no problem and some did. Just so scared of this whole thing. I had direct implants at the same time as my mastectomy. It may have been fine, however I had radia to on afterwards and a new implant inserted after th r nipple reconstruction was done. The nipple ended up too high and I ended up having a lat flap. I also had an immediate implant instead of expanders this time as well. My second plastic surgeon said he would put the implant in and if he didn't like the results he would put the expander in while I was still out. I trusted him enough to make the right decision.

If you're not having radiation and if your doctor puts the right size in, it should be OK with easier recovery, less invasive surgery and most likely less surgery in the long term.
