My PS said same. I'm not doing implant though. BS agreed. As well radiation Damages the skin

My PS wants to wait 6 months after last radiation treatment for reconstruction. He did not want to do immediate reconstruction after surgery since radiation damages implants. So, I had mastectomy of left breast with an expander put in its place. The drains are the worst part. I had 28 radiation treatments and 5 boosters. It will be 6 months after radiation in May. I will be scheduling my next surgery for June. I would have preferred it all be done but ps was very adamant about doing it 6 months after end of radiation.
I second @A MyBCTeam Member. I would get a second opinion on the implant before radiation. That is different than what my dr told me.

I am scheduled for implants after BMX before radiation. My doc says it's fine. Another PS said they only did expanders (not implants) before radiation, but that was due to radiologist sometimes needing to remove fluid from the expander for radiation and that can't be done if there is an implant. Perhaps it has something to do with size - I was small before (A or AA) and plan on small implants. Did you that this done? Did you need radiation?

@A MyBCTeam Member: typically they do not like to do radiation with implants in as it can damage the implant - usually they put expanders in until you're done treatment and then swap out after for the implants. I would get a second opinion on that advice just to be sure...💖

That was going to be my plan.... thankfully I didn't have to do radiation. The reason she wants to do reconstruction before radiation is because radiation damages your skin and the tiny little blood vessels that your body/breasts need to heal from your BMX and reconstruction.
Ps... there are several pink sisters here that had BMX and immediate reconstruction. I'm sure someone will share their experience.
