I had 6 months of chemo and 6 1/2 weeks of daily radiation about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I have TN breast cancer stage 2b. I am now getting the effects of Neuropathy. Its really bad at night. What have others done that have experienced it. How do you get your doc to give you pain meds for it with out feeling like they think your are an addict. Its so frustrating. So, any suggestion I will appreciate it. Thanks all.
I used 600 mg of Alpha lipoic acid and vitamin B1 daily and the pain subsided after about 2 weeks. Although I don't like antidepressants myself, there is one that is used for neuropathy (Cymbalta) that I've heard others have used with success. Last thing I would suggest is a pain killer since the majority are addictive and they only cause worse pain if you stop using them.
I used an amino acid L Glutamine and a Homeopathis remedy called Kali Phosphoricum. They worked very well for me.
I could not fall asleep because of the neuropathy. My feet would drive me crazy. My oncologist prescribed Gabapentin for me. I take 300 mg at night and it helps me to fall asleep.
Glad you've got some relief. I take 900 mg of gabapentin a day and don't think it helps much but then not willing to quit it either. Sleeping is 50/50. Some good , others not so much.
