I have been on Arimidex for 2 years, however am determined to stay on it even though the joint pain is rough some days. Exercise helps, heat helps, be careful with heating pad.

My experience with Arimidex was horrible but it worked great! Very frustrating. I'm stage IV mets. I was on it for about a year before I had to stop. By that time I could barely walk down the stairs because my feet and ankles hurt so bad. My joints in my hands were just as bad. The Dr.s drive me crazy because when I told them about the pain they said they haven't heard that from Arimidex! What liars! I thought I was going crazy until I went on some cancer sites and read how many women had the same thing. The good part was when I went off of it most the pain went away within a couple of months. I went on/off of it for 2 yrs. I would go on until I couldn't deal with it any longer then go off for a couple of months. Now I'm on Fulvestrant chemo shot. And the hot flashes from Arimidex were awful also. I would be so embarrassed sweating like a faucet was on over my head all the time! Have you started it or just an option?

Steph3692 is correct....do your research and make up your own mind. It's a lot more complicated than what each person can accept or not.....we are each so very different....apart from the cancer, which is also different for each of us, even tho the name of the diagnosis may be the same.....we all nay or may not have a lot of other things going on...health, stress, family situations, and on and on.....and yes, trust yourself to gather the information you need for your life....and as others gave suggested on this and other boards...if one AI doesn't work, others have switched to another . I wish you well ..........

I know others disagree with me, but I refused it. To me the side effects FAR outweigh the benefits. Do your research. Make up your own mind. You are in the drivers seat.
