My last chemo was in May. My hair is growing in---finally. However, it looks to be salt and pepper---unfortunately more salt than pepper. I would like to color it myself, but I remember reading some warnings about coloring new hair. Do any of you have a recommendation? Thanks!
I had a bilateral mastectomy in March 2011 followed by chemo. It was very hard for me to lose my hair (it was long and I was very vain about it). When it started to grow in, it was very curly and very salt and pepper. I had it colored in November of that year, but the color just washed out. So I'm just letting it be. I do get compliments on the color, so I'm just staying natural. And I must say that I'm not so vain about my hair any more...I was just so thankful to have it grow back!!!
My hairdresser uses a vegetable based rinse that doesn't have the chemicals in it...It last about 6 weeks or so, but she doesn't charge me much (and I figured I saved so much money when I didn't have hair on hair products/services!!)
my radiologist said not to color my hair. Please don't believe that todays home kits are good for your hair. The chemicals are horrible. My daughter takes cosmetology and she was told not to use them at all even for her. They said use Chi hair color if you are going to dye your hair because it is not made with harsh chemicals it is all organic.
You are really beautiful Marilyn!
my last chemo was in Jan. 2012 and my hairdresser lighten my hair In Nov-Dec 2012 (she couldn't handle how dark it grew back!)
