Usual recovery is 6. Weeks. Ask for physical therapy, the will help with the stretching and exercises. My PT has BC 2 times, she was a wealth of knowledge and a great listener, every time I left I felt like I had h ad a free counseling session! It is important to talk to others who understand what you are going through.

Yes the armpit boob! I call it my third boob, I now have to make sure that any bra I wear has a higher side so that I can tuck it in. I personally think that it is just because of all the tugging and muscle lose in that area. I will say that it has gotten a little better after six months so she can look forward to that. I did not try it but I know a few people who have used soft massage in the area. I think what still bothers me the most is the numbness in that area but I do really forget about it for days now. As they say time is a great healer.

L-Glutamine for the numbness about 3000mg my naturopath and oncologist told me too. It helped.

I think the length of time is different for all. At least several weeks. I agree with @A MyBCTeam Member about getting Physical Therapy, preferably with a lymphedema certified Therapist. I went to a non-certified PT and it didn't do much for me. Not until I went to a certified one and she worked on my cording did I get any relief or ability to raise my arms at all. Still working on it after a couple of months of twice a week visits. Hope she feels better soon.
