Definitely get this physically checked by a doctor. You mention neck and head pain as well which is also concerning. A lot of cancer patients aren't aware that the simple act of being a cancer patient puts you at higher risk of having a blood clot. Factor in surgeries, meds, chemo, radiation, and everything else involved in cancer treatment and the risk grows higher. I know this now because I was diagnosed with cancer treatment related blood clots in my neck and lung and was really surprised that just having cancer alone increases the risk of blood clots. Good luck, I hope the issue is nothing serious and goes away quickly for you.
Agree with @A MyBCTeam Member on this, while lymphedema can happen anytime after surgery (even years later!!) most of the time it shows up while you are still healing from surgery. IF this is lymphedema, the sooner it gets addressed, the better! Hugs!
Hi TareaLeBlanc, thank you for your response. It’s been 5 weeks since 2nd incision. My first surgery was Feb 24 and my second Surgery was on March 13. They had clear marigins first time, but need 2mm on all sides. That’s the reason they needed to go back in. I also had 2 hemotomas and fluid buildup from lymph node surgery, so during second surgery he drained all three. I thought I was doing a little better, so I canceled my OT. However, the pain has gotten pretty intense on my neck and collarbone and upper back. Even the back of my head in the cervical area was inflammed. I’m a mess. I set up OT again for May 1st. I hope you recover as well. I was worried that my neck pain was from high calcium levels, but got tested again and my levels are normal now. I feel like my body has offically broken down and I feel 90 years old. My arm is a bit swollen as well. I’ve been taking Ibro and Tylenol to manage the pain. I’m also doing radiation now. Today was day #4. 16 more sessions to go. Thank you again! Have a wonderful weekend!
I had lumpectomy with SLNB and a bilateral reduction. I am six months out from surgery. I still have pain in my neck, shoulders and upper back. I developed cording in my breast, armpit and arm on the cancer side. My doctor said the back, neck and shoulder pain is most likely from protecting that side without even realizing I’m doing it. I am causing more tension by doing this. I’m not sure how far you are, out of surgery, but physical or occupational therapy, stretches etc may be helpful when you are ready. Praying you get relief from your pain.

Please make your oncologist aware of your swollen arm as that is a possible sign of arm lymphedema which would need a referral to a certified Lymphedema specialist.
