I was er+/pr- and her-. Doing A/C now. Supposed to do dd taxol after A/C but heard it is only effective for her+ and is not effective for er+, hence am thinking of just moving on to radiation and then tamoxifen. Has anyone who was er+ and her- turned down taxol? Does anyone have any data regarding taxol's effect on er+?
Whenever I ask a doctor they say its "standard treatment", but when I ask for proof that Taxol specifically helps Er+ and pr- and her- I get no answers. That's like giving everyone who has a sugar problem- whether it be low blood sugar or diabetes -the same medicine. All of us have to ask more questions if we want treatment to improve. Hence, from what I know now, there are studies showing that Taxol does not help those who were er+ and pr- and her-, and none to the contrary.
I am ER/PR +, her2 - I had a/c then taxol. Dr said that was best, most aggressive way to attack mine. I had weekly taxol, but stopped at 9 instead of 12 due to side effects that were affecting both of my jobs in different ways. My dr was ok with me stopping after 9. It was a tough decision but I'm at peace with it, it was right for me and my situation.
I was er/pr positive, hr neg, stage 1, IDC. I had bilateral mx and started AIs but felt horrible and came off them. Lots of women turn down treatments for various reasons, you need to do what you can be at peace with. Good luck.
