I see you've gotten a lot of responses to this question but as you can see from my picture I have longish wavy hair now 5 years post chemo. But when it grew back in it was dark, gray and tight curls. The longer it got the less curly it became. Within 2 years it had changed to just wavy but if I put in hair product for curly hair it's basically wash and go. I don't have to do a thing to it. I LOVE it. And after having no hair I vowed to never complain about a bad hair day ever again so I"m trying to love it whether it's curly or wavy or if it goes to straight and I have to fuss over it again.

Mine came in baby soft and wavy, just like it was when I was a child. Prior to chemo, it was poker straight and for years in the 80's I paid to get a "perm".
Guess those years of chemicals didn't help any...
After 21 years now, I still have wavy thick hair that is more healthy looking than most.
Things like post chemo hair are likely genetic traits.

My hair was thin and fine before chemo. I was soooo looking forward to it being curly. Nope came in aittle wavy. Still fine. I had some thin spots on the top before they are still and obviously there. Too thin on top for me so I still wear hats or wigs. So ready for "normal" hair again. How long does it take? I've been of THC for 8 months and off herceptin for 6 weeks. How long before I have enough hair - mine is growing slowly!!!

Before, I used a relaxer to straighten my hair. I have thick slightly coarse hair. Now, I have thin hair with very little pigment and texture. Most of my hair reacts like hair with static. It won't do anything I want it to. Some of it is curling, some has a mind of it's own and its white, gray and black. I wash and condition it, slap on my wig and go. At home I leave it loose. I only have about an inch so far since ending chemo in September. Its very fine and soft, and my scalp is still a bit sensitive. I asked a hairdresser friend about my hair, she's had clients go through chemo, she suggested deep conditioners and keeping my hair moisturized. Who knows how it will turn out in the end. I'm not happy with my hair right now, so I focus on my make-up and how to lose the 40 pounds I gained while on chem.

Mine was straight and very fine and now it is so curly it looks like ringlets. To be honest I still am adjusting to the face I see in the mirror because the change has been so dramatic.
