I love to bake and the list of ingredients is huge from what you buy and what you bake. Sweetness can be adjusted with applesauce, maple syrup (real syrup), bananas etc . That way you avoid preservatives, and other additives. As for candy try you local health food store, and chocolate spend the money and get the good stuff with just a few ingredients look for real cocoa and cocoa butter not oils and flavors.

I find the longer I go without the sweets- the less I enjoy them, they taste too sweet, so I am usually satisfied with just a bite or two! There are times when I do binge- like a week ago- lol! I was in the store and saw a box of Archway unfrosted Molasses Cookies! My great-grandfather bought those for me every visit! So, of course that box of 10 came home with me- and even though I froze them to slow me down- they were gone in two days! I did enjoy every bite as I remembered our tea-parties, where he would cut around every other scallop on the edge to turn the cookies into dainty little hearts! I felt a bit guilty about eating them- but it was a nice stroll down memory lane. Give yourself grace on the days that aren't perfect! Hugs!

When I first was diagnosed. I stopped eating sweets and trying to stay away from all sugar. Now I’m back to having desserts, but I try to have some that aren’t too sugary. One thing I found was called unbound they are walnuts with different coatings on them. The butter toffee is the one that I like and in 1/4 of a cup, it’s only 2 g of sugar. Another thing I use is Greek yogurt with fresh berries to it eat it like it’s ice cream, at leadt I try to tell myself it is. It’s ok to indulge every now and then because if you deprive yourself, you might just go off on a binge. Also, the different skinny dipped dark chocolate I get from Costco or Sam’s Club. All of the skinny-dipped brands are low and sugar and very tasty. Hope that helps.
