Is it typical to still have breast soreness after a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation? Yes, absolutely — and you're not alone in experiencing this.

Given that radiation wrapped up in August 2025, the body is still very much in recovery mode. Soreness, tenderness, and swelling can linger well beyond the end of treatment, sometimes for months or even years. Here are some common reasons for ongoing breast soreness after the treatments you've had:

- Healing tissue — Scar tissue from surgery can feel dense and tender as it continues to form
- Radiation effects — Skin and tissue irritation from radiation can persist long after treatment ends
- Nerve regrowth — As nerves heal, sensations like tenderness, crawling, or itching are normal
- Swelling (seroma or lymphedema) — Fluid buildup can cause ongoing discomfort

One MyBCTeam member shared that even four years out from surgery, they still experienced recurring pains related to their treatment.

That said, it's always worth keeping your care team informed about any new or worsening pain, so they can rule out anything that needs attention and help manage your comfort. You deserve to feel as good as possible! 💛
