Members exploring black seed oil and other supplements for breast cancer support shared thoughtful personal experiences and cautions, with a key reminder to check for conditions like hemochromatosis before starting iron-binding supplements like lactoferrin. Several members described using Vitamin D with K2, Turkey Tail mushroom, and dietary changes including fresh pumpkin, broccoli, and cauliflower as part of their daily routines alongside standard treatment. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy, working closely with a primary care doctor, and researching options to feel more in control of their healing journey.

I plan to do all that. I am scheduled for radiation and then ill start hormone therapy. Haven't had a chance to talk to my oncologist yet about the oil. The way I see it is the whole idea is to shut down the cancer cells......starving them with the hormone treatment ( no estrogen to feed them). Why not have a extra fighter calming the cells!? There has been research. Im not a doctor, but I do have cancer, so I like to look and check on other ways besides the normal protocols. 🤷‍♀️ Nobody talks about these things.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am finding out that you really have to be an advocate for yourself and it isn't easy! I just cant help thinking that there has to be something more we can do for ourselves. I haven't had a bone scan yet so not sure where I fall on that. I do know that I dont want to be handed another potent drug to protect my bones, just as the line-up on the possible scripts for all side of effects from hormone therapy.
Ugh!!! Will get through!!!
Bless you

Makes total sense to me! My niece- (daughter to my brother)- was early 30's and diagnosed with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), (used to be called NonAlcoholic fatty liver disease), While current research does not show that hemochromatosis causes MASLD, they often "overlap". Makes one wonder, for sure!

@virginavalley I believe you are right about hemochromatosis going undiagnosed. I also have a lot of family members on my dads side that died early with liver failure etc. My dad's death certificate said none alcohol cirrhosis of the liver, so what really killed my dad at age 68, he was good and healthy? The death certificate said hepatitis but how did he get hepatitis? Nothing was explained to me 13 years ago.

Wow! I just asked AI, this was my answer..

Bottom line: Being a carrier proves Dad passed on at least one mutation, but doesn't prove he was sick. However, "non-alcoholic cirrhosis labelled hepatitis" is exactly the pattern undiagnosed hemochromatosis produces, so it's a legitimate hypothesis worth checking against his lab values rather than assuming.

Lots of good information. Thank you. My blood work has been good, but I'm certainly going to back track and take another look. Ill be having blood work done before starting my hormone therapy and of course a bone density. I think its my bones im worried about most right now, well, also the pesky cancer cells lurking. Need all information before deciding. I do take vitamins, but hoping for an extra boost for my bones.Ill research all of these options and talk to my oncologist.
