Recurrence score. Does anyone know about this test?
I had genomic testing and my score was 10. I honestly don’t remember if it was before or after, I’m thinking before.
Fast forward 13 years I’m sorry to say, I have 4 different types of cancer.
@A MyBCTeam Member
Original left breast cancer, with mastectomy, stage 1 non small cell lung cancer, MBC right side 6th and 8th ribs and now BCC, tip of nose and left temple.
I am stage 4 with MBC.
All my cancers are slow growing.
I am treatable of course but not curable.
Therefore, I have not too much to say about genomic testing. For me there was no value…..
My original mastectomy was December 20, 2013.
All in all I feel pretty good.
I am in palliative care and I wear a 50 mcg fentanyl patch l. In addition, I take 30 mg of oxycodone every 4 hours.
I had the Oncotype test done with my first breast cancer and received a low score. That breast cancer was stage 1A. When my breast cancer returned as an aggressive stage 3C I asked if they were going to do the test again. I was told no, because my cancer was stage 3C and 16 of 18 lymph nodes were positive for cancer there was no need for that test since they already new it was an aggressive and high risk cancer.
It sounds like you might be referring to the Oncotype DX test (or a similar genomic test). This type of test analyzes genes in cancer cells from a tissue sample taken during surgery or biopsy.
Here's what it generally looks at:
- How likely the tumor is to grow or return
- How well certain treatments may work
